We do not use CallerID, and we always block our outgoing calls for your safety.
Sojourner House handles more than 3,000 helpline calls a year in which callers may choose to remain anonymous. We do not use call identification, and we always block out our phone number on outgoing calls for the person's safety. We accept collect calls.
The decision to make that important phone call, to reach out for help, is often a turning point in victims' lives. Whether the caller is in an abusive relationship or knows someone who is, our helpline serves as the first point of contact between Sojourner House and a large percentage of our clients. Our staff is skilled in understanding what victims are going through as they listen attentively to them and answer any questions. They provide confidential information, support, referrals, and crisis intervention assistance. Most importantly, callers are provided with a trained, compassionate person who will listen to their story. Helplines are staffed at the Safe House, offices, and Drop-in Center.
